Sustainable travel

on the Meridiem Trail

We place a special emphasis on sustainable mobility. You can use public transportation to travel to the starting point and back from the final stage. Since the route passes through numerous train stations, you can also plan the stages to suit your individual needs.

With the Meridiem Trail, we also want to highlight new possibilities: In particular, using the ÖBB and WESTBAHN rail connections between Graz and Klagenfurt, as well as the Koralmbahn—which is set to open in December 2025—offers cyclists on the Meridiem Trail ideal options for getting to and from their destinations. The two train stations, Weststeiermark and St. Paul im Lavanttal, also offer excellent opportunities for new cycling tours.

Travel by train

Please note: Capacity for bicycle transport may be limited on some routes; booking early—including for bicycle transport—can sometimes be very beneficial.

The following train stations are located along the Meridiem Trail:

Tip: Park your bike at the bike station

If you’d like to spend a little more time in Vienna, you can conveniently park your bike at the “Radstation” at the main train station. For €3 a day, it will be protected from the elements and monitored by video surveillance.

By ferry across the Danube

If you want to take your bike across the Danube at Orth during Stage 1, use the Danube bike ferry.
