I had cycled from Basel to Budapest. The Danube was getting a little tedious, so I took the train to Bratislava and joined the Meridiem Trail, which was much more interesting as it wound through vineyards and back roads, and I ate cherries along the way.

We only completed the first three stages. But we started in Mariazell and rode to Vienna via the Traisental Bike Path and the Danube Bike Path.
The only—but very significant—drawback was the lodging in Donnersk
