ehlen. We cycled from Vienna to Klagenfurt in 7 stages on a gravel bike with 5 kg of gear + water! Some gravel sections were very deep (you might have to push your bike) I wouldn’t ride this route on a touring bike (tires!) Note: There was a lot of truck traffic on the Radl Pass on a Tuesday, and the pass has a gradient of about 10% over 1 km!

Not via Mörbisch, but via Neusiedel on the eastern shore to Ilmitz, and then by ferry to Mörbisch. 2.) From Leibnitz, not via Eibiswald into the Drau Valley, but via Maribor, then by train to Dravograd, and then continuing on the MT route.

We also happened to be on our tour during the hottest days of the year, and everyone in our group is over 70. We spread the entire tour over 10 days, which was helpful given the heat. We started early in the morning and often reached the end of the day’s stage by early afternoon. The app was a huge help, especially on the dirt roads, where there were often no signposts or directional signs at intersections. We found the part of the route where you occasionally veer into Hungary particularly interesting. It was exciting—linguistically, culturally, and financially—so it’s advisable to bring some forints with you.
